The mesh is tough enough to keep your pet contained, and to not be chewed by your livefoods (crickets can sometimes chew through thin mesh). The extra ventilation provided by having a mesh walled enclosure will be much appreciated by species such as chameleons.

Lucky Reptile Open Air Vivariums can also be used outdoors, giving your reptile the opportunity to experience natural sunlight and its UV benefits without high risks of overheating (if placing outside always provide water and a shaded area).
