Radiant heat is the most important and natural source for heat regulation in reptiles. The Exo Terra Heat Wave Lamp has a broader sun-like spectrum of infrared radiation than incandescent lighting and emits no visible light.

The Exo Terra Heat Wave Lamp is a radiant heat source and creates a natural sun-like heat with a uniform pattern. The long wave infrared heat produced by this emitter will warm reptiles very efficiently. It also increases the ambient air-temperature in the terrarium. Infrared heat penetrates the scales and skin tissue, promoting health and healing as it widens the blood vessels and increases blood circulation. The Heat Wave Lamp is to be used only with the specially designed Exo Terra Wire Light.

The B2 Thermostat is designed to give precise microprocessor
controlled temperature of non light emitting heat sources up to 600
watts. This may include heatmats and ceramics. The heater must be a
minimum of 5 watts.
The B2 is a pulse proportional thermostat which pulses the power to
the heat source. For this reason pulse proportional thermostats are not
suitable for light emitting heaters i.e bulbs.

The B2 Magic Eye Thermostat is designed to give precise

sources up to 600 watts. This may include heatmats and ceramics.
The heat source must be a minimum of 5 watts.
The B2 Magic Eye is a pulse proportional thermostat which will control

On/off thermostats work by turning on the heat when the temperature is low and turning it off when the desired level is reached. Electronic thermostats are more accurate and offer closer control than the electro mechanical type often used for central heating control.

MicroClimate MiniStat 300 is a ON/OFF thermostat for controlling Heat mats up to 300 watts in power. The Ministat will operate any manufacturer of heat mat. Do not attempt to operate the Ministat with a greater load than specified . Doing so may result in damage to the Ministat.

Always use a thermometer to check the temperature of the vivarium and adjust the Ministat as required to give the required temperature.

Adjustment A small flat base screwdriver can be used to adjust the temperature control of the Ministat. The Ministat has a power indication led. When the led is lit power is being supplied to the heater.

The led will go out when the desired temperature has been reached. When using a Ministat 300 the temperature probe should be placed in the centre of the heat mat.

This Ministat is fitted with a 13a plug and socket complying with EEC regulations.

Sophisticated pulse proportional thermostat, ideal for controlling higher power ceramic heaters.

The function of this thermostat is far more sophisticated than the simpler on/off switching devices. It will very accurately control heaters and has a maximum load of 600 watts. A normal thermostat switches a heater on full power until the set temperature is achieved.

It then switches the heater off completely until the temperature drops below the set value, when the cycle starts over again. The gap between the heater being switched on and then off is called hysteresis. It is between these points that the accuracy of the controller is assessed. The pulse proportional thermostat pulses electricity to the heater.

The sequence of events are as follows: The temperature is set on the dial. The cage and heater are cold so the heater is on full power.As the temperature in the cage nears the set temperature the unit cuts the power down to pulses.The degree of pulse (i.e. the ammount of time the heater is on and the ammount of time it is off) is dependent on the cage temperature.

In the early stages of approaching the set temperature the 'on' pulses will be long and the 'off' time will be short. In a correctly set up cage, as the desired temperature is neared, the 'on' pulses become shorter until the cycle levels at approximately 50% on and 50% off.

In a cage where the heater is of the correct capacity, the cycle should remain at this point. The heater is only powered enough to maintain the temperature set. It does not have to continually start the heater from cold. This vastly improves heater element life and is far safer for the animals as the heater rarely, if ever, needs to run at full power.

Pulse proportional thermostat with the capacity to drop the temperature at night if attached to a timer. The function of this thermostat is the same as the standard Pulse proportional thermostat but with the added facility of a night time temperature drop facility.

With many species it is important to give them a cycle of warm day time temperatures and cool night temperatures. Many species would experience this in their natural environment.

Through an additional mains input lead and via a time switch or a Habistat 'Night eye' (not included) the thermostat will lower the set temperature for a period of time set on the time switch or controlled by the 'Night eye'.

When used with the 'night eye' the light levels will be sensed and the temperature will automatically be switched down when it is dark, and back up again for the daytime. No more need to adjust time switches with the 'Night eye' as it automatically adjusts to seasonal changes.

The temperature drop on the thermostat can be adjusted to be anything between 5 degrees Centigrade to 15 degrees Centigrade, lower than the day time set temperature. This drop is obviously dependent on the ambient temperature where the cage is kept. The temperature cannot drop below this without the aid of a chiller or Mini fan.
